Many individuals faced with the prospect of working with radioactive materials and/or sources of ionizing radiation may have questions related to the hazardous nature of the work.
These may include:
• Am I putting my health at risk when I agree to work with radioactive sources?
• Is radiation work “safe”?
• What types of things have happened to persons as a result of radiation exposure?
This course has been designed to inform workers about the hazards posed by occupational radiation exposure. A review of basic radiobiological concepts as well as the best estimates of risk associated with radiation work is intended to provide perspective on the magnitude of the risk posed by occupational radiation.
This course is intended to provide training to help meet training requirements specified in Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Part 20, Subpart B of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Agreement States, and other governmental agencies.
