When responding to chemical spills, Hazardous Materials Technicians are typically members of the Hazardous Materials Team, often referred to as the Spill Response Team or Emergency Response Team. OSHA requires that hazardous materials technicians have at least 24 hours of training per section (q) of the HAZWOPER regulation. This training is also known as Hazmat Tech, Level III Responder, Industry Tech, or a combination of these terms.
The objectives of this course are to meet the Federal OSHA HAZWOPER training requirements of 29 CFR 1910.120(q)(6)(iii) for general industry and 29 CFR 1926.65(q)(6)(iii) for construction. This course is also intended to meet any HAZWOPER training requirements for the EPA and State OSHA regulations.
