This is an introductory level course which covers the fundamentals of radiation safety intended to meet training requirements for new radiation workers. Basic Radiation Safety includes a review of common perceptions of radiation and an introduction into radiation, radioactivity, and radiation protection. You will gain a solid, basic working knowledge of the origins of radiation, different types of radiation, radiation interactions and health effects, regulations, radiation instruments, how to conduct surveys, and the actions you can take to protect yourself from unnecessary exposure.
8 hours are awarded on the certificate for this training based on anticipated time to complete all training modules and review all relevant reference material. Depending on a student's familiarization with the topics and reference material, this time to complete the course may vary, but will not change the number of hours awarded. AAHP has approved this course for 8 CE hours.
