This course provides a clear, practical foundation in radiation science, safety,
and regulatory practice, guiding learners from the fundamentals of x‑ray
production and fluoroscopy terminology to the historical and biological
principles behind radiation health risks. It equips you with essential knowledge
for minimizing exposure through time, distance, shielding, and effective
personnel monitoring, while also ensuring compliance with state and national
regulations—especially in sensitive areas like pediatric imaging. Finally, the
course emphasizes the vital role of a strong safety culture, using real‑world
examples and strategies to help you promote safe practices, effective
communication, and regulatory confidence in any clinical or supervisory
setting.
Joint Commission as well as states including Alaska, California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Maryland, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin have fluoroscopy user specific training requirements within their regulations. This course is equivalent to 6-hours of training for the use of fluoroscopy systems and may be sufficient to meet some or all requirements for initial and/or continuing education depending on your state regulations.
6 hours are awarded on the certificate for this training based on anticipated time to complete all training modules and review all relevant reference material. Depending on a student's familiarization with the topics and reference material, this time to complete the course may vary but will not change the number of hours awarded.
