This course is for people who may work in the vicinity of a radiation source, who see the signs for radiation, and may wonder about their safety. This course is often called Training for Ancillary Personnel. For best understanding of radiation safety at your facility, specific information should be included on actual sources of radiation exposures at your location. This information could be provided by your Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) or we could include your site-specific information on radiation sources and potential exposures in this online course with the approval of your RSO. (RSOs, please contact the Training Academy to discuss how we could tailor this program for your facility).
This course is intended to help answer questions such as, "Is working around radiation safe, what does safe mean, who decides, and how do we know?" This course will also provide some understanding of radiation effects, good practices for radiation safety, and what to do in an emergency.
